Make Smoking History

If you are smoking and would like some support to stop, there is a specialised service that can help. This service is free and available to all Lambeth residents

“Having someone on your side who knows how hard it is to quit really makes a difference - I could never have done it without the support I received”

We understand what a hard time this is to give up smoking and that you may be feeling guilty or scared about the effects on your baby, and we are here to help.

In pregnancy your body metabolises nicotine faster and so your desire to smoke may well have increased during this time. You may also have tried to give up yourself and found it so difficult that you feel you’ll never be able to manage.

We have helped many women who felt exactly the same way. With our help, you can do it. We offer weekly home visits supporting you until you feel like a confident non-smoker. We will talk through all of the things that trigger you to smoke and discuss ways to manage them.

The service is tailor made to your individual needs and is open and honest, there is no judgement and you will not be made to feel guilty.

What we can offer:

• Help for pregnant women or mums with children under 5 years old
• Home visits every week or a weekly appointment at the St Thomas’ antenatal clinic
• Nicotine replacement therapy (patches, gum, inhalator etc) which can be used in pregnancy
• Understanding of your smoking habits
• Ways to cope without smoking

“It took me a long time to finally quit but my counsellor was always there for me. I never felt alone or judged”

If you like the sound of this we can set up an initial appointment where we will tell you about the service and you can tell us about your smoking. After hearing all of the information, if you feel like you want to use the service to try to quit, together we will choose a date that you will give up smoking that suits you.
